Michael Jackson, Farrah Fawcett, Billy Mays Make Three!

AUTHOR: Matt DeLucia | IN: Breaking News, Misc | COMMENTS: 15 Comments

They say all bad things happen in groups of three’s!  The past few days have proven that to be correct, once again.  It starts on Thursday, with the news that the king of pop Michael Jackson had passed away at age 50, from unknown causes.  Then the word had started to spread about the death of actress Farrah Fawcett, the former “Charlie’s Angels” star!  Then on Sunday morning the entertainment world was buzzing once again, this time with the news that celebrity pitchman Billy Mays, 50 had also passed away!
With the passing of Mays, it now means the grouping of three is complete as [...]

A “THRILLER” in Atlanta!

AUTHOR: Matt DeLucia | IN: Boston Red Sox, Fanzone/Tailgating, Gameday, Inter-League Play | COMMENTS: None Yet

Thank You Tim Wakefield and Mark Kotsay!  That’s all I have to say, as it was Kotsay’s RBI single in the top of the sixth inning that produced the game’s only run.  As Wakefield and the Boston Red Sox win a “thriller” in Atlanta, over the Atlanta Braves 1-0!  The victory for Wakefield improves his record to 10-3 on the season, it also means Wakefield retakes the club lead over Josh Beckett (9-3) by one victory.
With two outs and two men on Kotsay smacked a 2-2 pitch from Javier Vazquez the Braves starter into left-field scoring Kevin Youkilis, with the [...]

Beckett Baffles Braves!

AUTHOR: Matt DeLucia | IN: Boston Red Sox, Fanzone/Tailgating, Gameday, Inter-League Play | COMMENTS: None Yet

What a night it was for the Boston Red Sox and Josh Beckett as they beat the Atlanta Braves, once again 4-1!  The victory in the opening game of this series was Boston’s third win in four tries verse the Braves in the last week.  It’s also Beckett’s second straight victory over the Braves, as he also tossed a shutout victory over the Braves last Saturday, 3-0 at Fenway Park in Boston.  The headlines in the local Boston papers will read something like this in the morning:
Beckett Baffles Braves!
BoSox Beat Braves!
Boston Stump’s Atlanta Again!
Atlanta WHO!
The game saw Beckett and Jair Jurrjens matched in [...]

Sox Ran Into Those Pesky Nat’s!

AUTHOR: Matt DeLucia | IN: Baltimore Orioles, Boston Red Sox, Fanzone/Tailgating, Inter-League Play | COMMENTS: None Yet

After winning the first two games of the series by scores of 11-3 and 6-4,  in rather easy fashion.  The Boston Red Sox were looking for a sweep of the Washington Nationals in our Nation’s Capital.  Unfortunately for Boston that didn’t happen, as the Sox ran into those pesky Nat’s!  Who spoiled the party and a “sweeps” celebration for the Sox and Red Sox Nation.  Hey we can’t win them all, can we?  I guess just like the famous song from Meatloaf says “Two outta three ain’t bad”!
For the Sox it was the much anticipated debut of John Smoltz, Thursday evening.  [...]

(The Injury Bug) Hits The Sox!

AUTHOR: Matt DeLucia | IN: AL East, Boston Red Sox, Fanzone/Tailgating, Inter-League Play, Series Pitching Match-Ups | COMMENTS: 1 Comment

The Boston Red Sox have arrived in our Nation’s Capital for a three game series with the Washington Nationals which begins tonight.  It’s the first of three stops for the Sox on this road trip.  As they also have stops in Atlanta and also in Baltimore to face the Braves and the Orioles.  The Sox 42-27 on the year enter this series four games ahead of the Yankees in the AL East, while the Nationals are dead last (again) in the NL East with a 20-47 record.
It’s the tale of two very different baseball teams as the Sox have been in contention all season long [...]

Bad News Ends And The Good Begins!

AUTHOR: Matt DeLucia | IN: Boston Red Sox, Boston Sports, Fanzone/Tailgating, Gameday, Inter-League Play | COMMENTS: 1 Comment

The weekend for the Boston Red Sox started off on a horrible note.  As the Atlanta Braves arrived in Boston, and promptly spanked the Sox and their starter Daisuke Matsuzaka all over Fenway Park.  Fortunately for the Sox and all the proud members of Red Sox Nation, that’s where the bad news ends and the good begins!  Basically thanks to Josh Beckett and Nick Green and their outstanding performances during the entire series!  Since the Sox came back and took the next two games, winning the series 2 games to 1 with the Braves.  So it’s time now to jump right [...]

ENOUGH IS ENOUGH WHO’S THE FIFTH MAN?

AUTHOR: Matt DeLucia | IN: Boston Red Sox, Breaking News, Fanzone/Tailgating, Gameday, Inter-League Play, Rumors | COMMENTS: None Yet

ENOUGH IS ENOUGH WHO’S THE FIFTH MAN?  Brad Penny?  Clay Buchholz?  John Smoltz? Daisuke Matsuzaka?  We the proud members of Red Sox Nation want and need to know, please!  It’s now time for the Boston Red Sox to make a decision on their pitching staff.  They need to figure out who’s in and who’s out, when it comes to the Boston rotation before it’s to late.
And the time’s running out for them to do it, as Smoltz is all set to make his season and Red Sox debut next week.  As the Sox continue their inter-league play with the Washington [...]

Down Right Horrible And Lifeless!

AUTHOR: Matt DeLucia | IN: Boston Red Sox, Gameday, Inter-League Play, Off Topic/Other | COMMENTS: None Yet

The Boston Red Sox were rolling along without a care in the world.  As they were winners in 7 of their last 8 games, until the tides changes on Thursday.  Since then they’ve lost 2 straight to the Florida Marlins and the Atlanta Braves.  And while losing two straight the Sox have looked down right horrible and lifeless on the offensive side of the game.  As they’ve only managed a grand total of three runs and three hits over the last two games.
It looks like the Sox and all the luck they had changed just when the flood gates literally [...]
