All-Star Game – American League Voting Update!

Voting is underway for this year’s All-Star Game which will take place in St. Louis on July 14th.  Below are the balloting totals as of Wednesday May 27th for the American League representatives.  Remember you can vote up to 25 times (per e-mail address) at  MLB.com through the July 2nd, 11:59 pm EST deadline.

    i know everybody likes only voting for all the players on their favorite team, but what does that really fulfill? david ortiz doesnt deserve to be at the allstar game this year. hes not playing at an allstar level. neither is ken griffey junior. manny is not playing at all, so hes not playing at an allstar level or any level.
    i know varitek is the man in botown, but mauer is just the complete player right now. he might become the best player in the AL if he isnt already.
    bay-ichiro-hamilton is a fine outfield, no need to push ellsbury, settle on the one guy you think isnt #1 and actually debatably should be there (pedroia)

    just my thoughts.

    jesse;

    I agree with most of what you said, especially in regards to Ortiz, Griffey and Ramirez! Manny who’s been suspended still could possibly make the ASG which is a dam shame if you ask me. Think I saw that he was 5th as of the totals on yesterday (June 1st) so if he does get selected I really think Selig needs to step in and block him from being there.

    Joe Mauer is having a great season and deserves to be the AL starter at catcher, but I still think Varitek should be a reserve. Look at the season he had last year and compare the numbers to this season. He’s much improved on the offensive side of the game at the plate and he still does what’s needed in taking control of the game for the pitchers and just letting them do their thing.

    2nd will be a tough call since Kinsler is having a great season and it looks like the fans will be rewarding him for his play. So for Pedroia it looks like he’ll be headed to St. Louis as a reserve (which there’s nothing with it) he should be an All-Star this season. If Youkilis doesn’t go at 1st base I’ll slam my head into a wall. He’s having a monster year.

    Your outfield of Bay-Ichiro and Hamilton sounds great to me. I would like to see Torii Hunter from LA and Ellsbury along with say a guy like Vernon Wells (TBJ) or Nick Markakis (BO) make the squad this year. I think they are all having great seasons, plus I don’t want to see a player from the smaller markets say the Orioles or Blue Jays left off the team only because they play in a smaller market!
