Easily Win 120 Of Them!

Could we please play all off the 162 regular season games against the New York Yankees?  It’s not asking for that much, especially since if it did happen I’m positive the Boston Red Sox would easily win 120 of them!  As both teams are headed in the wrong direction at this point of the season, with the Sox moving up the charts and playing great ball.  And the Yankees, well they’re kinda stuck in the middle of the AL East and sliding downward fast.  The Sox who are now 5-0 vs New York on the year, and it’s all due to them sweeping the last two games at the Yankees new stadium on Monday and Tuesday.

Taking a look at both clubs you will notice a few very interesting things for both the Sox and the Yankees:

The Red Sox:

  1. Play each game with team chemistry no matter who’s in the line-up!
  2. Have shown they can overcome injuries to key personnel early on and they can rely on their replacements to fill in nicely.
  3. Made the right moves concerning personnel and players in the off-season, spent their money wisely in bettering the team.
  4. Signed a few players at minimal risk or cost for the season (John Smoltz and Brad Penny).
  5. Have a dependable farm system in place who are ready to fill-in when called upon like Justin Masterson, Michael Bowden and Nick Green.
  6. Consistently play in front of a packed house at Fenway Park and have a great and very loyal fan base around the world!
  7. A proven winner in Terry Francona, who’s managing the team each and every day.

The Yankees:

  1. Have no team chemistry at all, it’s all about individuals for them.
  2. Can not overcome injuries to starters (Alex Rodriguez and Jorge Posada).
  3. Made all the wrong moves in the off-season, and just wasted their money on useless talent (A.J. Burnett, C.C. Sabathia and Mark Teixeira).
  4. Tossed $325 million out the window on 3 players (see names above).
  5.  Have only a few reliable players in their farm system, but no one that can fill-in and keep the team afloat.
  6. They are waiting for the biggest cancer to return (A-Roids again) and be their savior.  Sorry that won’t be happening New York!
  7. Brand new stadium and can’t sell-out their home games (did you see all those empty seats when the played the Sox).  Have a manager Joe Girardi, who’s a wanna-be savior for the Yankees, making all the wrong moves.

So it’s up to you the reader and the fan to figure out on your own which team is the better club right now (ahem, it’s the Sox).  Things can and they do change in a moments notice during the course of the long baseball season, we all know that and have seen it in the past.  I just have to add that if this is a preview of what’s to come for these clubs the rest of the way, I’m loving it.  So watch out post-season, the Red Sox are punching their ticket and it’s first class all the way.  As for the lonely Spankees, (that’s right when you get spanked you deserve the name) it sucks to be you or a fan, since just like last year come this October it’ll be all over and done with for you, AGAIN!  GO SOX!
