What happens when the Boston Red Sox and manager Terry Francona give Jason Varitek a night off to rest? Wild (pitches) night galore that what happens! As the Boston pitching staff threw (or should I say were charged with) 6 wild pitches over the course of last night game, with the Minnesota Twins. George Kottaras, the Sox back-up catcher who had the starting nod behind the plate in place in Varitek, had a very eventful night behind it too say the least. The poor guy was chasing balls all over the place in the Metrodome, as he had a very rough [...]

Wild (Pitches) Night Galore!
Voting is underway for this year’s All-Star Game which will take place in St. Louis on July 14th. Below are the balloting totals as of Wednesday May 27th for the American League representatives. Remember you can vote up to 25 times (per e-mail address) at MLB.com through the July 2nd, 11:59 pm EST deadline.
For fans of the Boston Red Sox you’ll notice that the Sox have players leading for the moment in two categories. As Kevin Youkilis (1st Base)and Jason Bay (OF) are both currently in the lead for their respective positions. With plenty of time left in the voting there’s still time for [...]
QUICK UPDATE – David Ortiz 6th – J.D. Drew 3rd! The Boston Red Sox just made it official as they just announced that Ortiz will move to the 6th spot and Drew will jump up to the 3rd spot in the Red Sox line-up. The Red Sox have hopefully silenced all the critics and the skeptics who have been calling and begging for a change over the recent days, in making this switch. Because myself personally I’m sick and tired of hearing about this from all the so called experts and fans (especially idiot New York fans) that think and believe they [...]
Does it happen tonight? Time will tell us very soon as the the rumors involving the struggling David Ortiz have been running wild for days now. Do the Boston Red Sox and manager Terry Francona make the difficult decision to drop Ortiz down in the Boston line-up? With the Sox game scheduled to get underway in just over 2 hours, the baseball world, their fans and especially Red Sox Nation (RSN) will have the answer. It’s kinda funny since I first talked about the idea of lowering Big Papi in the line-up about two weeks ago, since some of you [...]
Across the country Memorial Day festivities are underway, as people race to kickoff the “unofficial” start to the summer. Gatherings are currently taking place as friends and family and all our loved one’s are coming together for parties and barbecues in hoards. Boats that had been sitting idly in their docks have been primed, cleaned and waxed, as they prepare to hit the open seas and lakes. People have been dusting the cob webs off their grills and barbecues, filling the propane tanks and stock piling on their charcoal pellets as it’s time to FIRE THEM UP!
It’s what America needs, especially at this time [...]
4-2 Record On The Homestand!
With their 12-5 victory on Sunday, the Boston Red Sox finished with a 4-2 record on the homestand! In this brief stop at Fenway which was only 6 games against the Toronto Blue Jays (3-0) and the New York Mets (1-2) the Sox regained first place in the AL East. It might only be a half game lead in the division but it’s a lead none the less. With it also being Memorial Day weekend, anyone who knows anything about baseball can tell you what that means. Teams in first place at this time of the year generally end the [...]
Things I’ve Noticed Early On!
Thanks to the great people over at MLBN, I’m actually able to see the Boston Red Sox in action as they square off with the New York Mets at Fenway Park. It’s game two of their three game series and here’s just a few quick things I’ve noticed early on in the game between the Mets and Red Sox.
1. Pitchers need to just pitch and forget about fielding:
This pertains to the Red Sox ace Josh Beckett, as anyone who watched the first inning of tonight’s game would agree with me on that comment. With Gary Sheffield at the plate with [...]
You’ll LOVE This News!
It’s Memorial Day weekend which means it’s time to relax, visit with family and friends, do some barbecuing and enjoy all the weekends festivities. Oh, it also means the Boston Red Sox are in action all weekend long as they have three games slated with the dreaded New York Mets at Fenway. The Mets who took game one with a 5-3 victory received a great pitching performance by Johan Santana as he improved his record to 6-2 on the year. For Boston it marked the return of Daisuke Matsuzaka to the mound after his stint on the disabled list. Matsuzaka who [...]
Inter-League Play!
Once again the time is upon us in the baseball world for the worst part of the season. What’s it called? It’s none other than inter-league play in MLB, as the AL and the NL teams are forced to play each other. Some people might actually like this part of the season but for myself I could do without it. Especially for 18 games as I’d much rather watch the best team in the majors, my beloved Boston Red Sox play teams within their own division the AL East!
Sure it’s fun seeing my Red Sox play in the different NL parks [...]
Star Shining Bright!
What a night at Fenway Park, not only for the Boston Red Sox, their fans but more importantly for one David Ortiz. As Big Papi finally went yard for the first time in the 2009 campaign, ending a 149 at bat homer-less streak. On a 3-1 pitch in the bottom of the fifth Ortiz drilled a shot to deep center that just barely cleared the center-field wall for his first round tripper on the year. After touching home, Ortiz trotted into the dugout and the Sox being their normal selves all played it calm and cool as they gave Ortiz the [...]
